Bali – An Island of Cultural Wonders

Standard

This Indonesian island serves as the major tourist destination for the country. Bali, also known as the Island of the Gods, features a natural tourist destination with gorgeous scenery brought about by hills and mountains, pristine beaches and magnificent coral lines, rice terraces and ashen volcanic landscapes. All in all, these naturally grown developments have formed one of the most magnificent tourist destinations in the world – especially during summer.

Bali doesn’t only impress in its natural blessings, the people of Bali are traditional and have deep roots when it comes to culture and religion. The best attractions are mostly the many Hindu temples including the directional temples. Visitors must wear a sarong and a sash before entering these temples and for those who do not own any, may rent at nearby rental stations.

The beaches in Bali vary from black sand due to the island’s volcanic nature to fine and white sand along the south. Most beaches are safe to swim in, however, safety markers are put up along the waters for extra caution. Rice paddies are a great landscape to find in Bali, lush and green during most days of the year, making a perfectly pleasing view. Aside from beaches and rice paddies, volcanoes also dominate the island including Mt. Batur which is an accessible, active volcano that can be climbed in 2 hours.

Locals of Bali have grown in a culture filled with beautiful art whether tradition or religious, and this can be seen in Ubud, where several museums, workshops and retail art stores are featured for tourists. History buffs can visit the commemoration monument of the 2002 Bali Bombing that lies near the ruins of the Sari Club. Other activities include scuba diving, surfing, white water rafting and other adventurous activities such as jungle trekking, hiking, paragliding and bungy jumping.

While partying and drinking may be popular around the area, Bali holds such a unique culture that it is a waste to be there without experiencing it.
